Garden of Memory
To not forget
April 14 2014
To celebrate the centenary of World War I, school boys and girls planted as many trees as Pierrefort soldiers Dead for France.
This operation was led thanks to the French agency of the Foundation in favour of education and environment in Europe.
On the other side of this sign, you will discover the list of the 55 people from Pierrefort who died for France.
The blueberry is one of the rare flowers which can grow on the battlefields and it reminds us the blue uniform worn by the first « poilus ».
After the war, the blueberry was chosen by two nurses as a symbol in a citizen mobilization to raise funds and help mutilated people.
The French blueberry keeps being the symbol of Memory and Solidarity for ex-combatants, war or attack victims and their families.
